Myron Dane Gerber (Age 91)
Of Bethesda, MD passed away at home on August 31, 2018. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Robert and Rose (Cohen) Gerber; brother, Sylvan Jordan Gerber; and wife, Elizabeth (Newald). Myron is survived by his five sons, Scott (Jan) Portland, OR; Rick (Maria) Clifton, VA; Gregory (Michele) Palm Springs, CA; Gary (Jennifer) Potomac, MD; Clifford (Marni) Portland, OR. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Samantha Tuten, Justin (Coleen), Logan, Jake, Taylor, Alix, Maks, Kaleb; a great-granddaughter, Mollie Tuten; and niece, Sherry Holladay.Myron loved sports and was an accomplished athlete. His football career began, to local acclaim, at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, VA. He continued playing at Bullis Preparatory School, the U.S. Naval Academy and the University of Florida. After graduating from U of F, Myron came back to the area to join the family business. He was eventually Chairman of the Board at the DrugFair retail drugstore chain. During this time, he also co-owned the Ski Haus ski shop in Bethesda, MD. After the DrugFair chain was sold, he went on to co-launch the SoftSpikes brand of non-metal golf cleats. Myron loved tennis and golf. He enjoyed playing locally and taking golf trips with friends. He was also an enthusiastic skier who loved being on the mountain with family and friends.Myron was buried on September 5, 2018 in the King David Cemetery in Falls Church, VA.
